Relaunch!

Guess what, Shayne and Dave Rick? We're coming back! TrevorCopter, the hilarious adventure strip starring a lovable cast of colorful characters and dastardly rogues, is returning on January 9th.

To add a little bit of collateral to that claim, here are some re-done strips from the past, altered and/or re-drawn to better capture the world I am trying to build here. A few more will follow before the strip begins again. Enjoy and I will see you in the NEW YEAR!

Tiny Break

I know that I just got over the HUGE break from moving, but we are going to have a short break this weekend because my sister is getting married and I will be unable to post til Tuesday morning. If you have ever been to a Reece wedding, you would completely understand. So, I will see you on the other side of this weekend. And when we return, more new characters will be teased and we will be getting our first looks into the dynamics of the TrevorCopter relationship (SPOILER - Its basically like Knight Rider.)

Strip 13 and theme

Have you seen Misfits? Oh man, it is awesome! It’s on Hulu Anyway, I have decided that TrevorCopter needs a great theme song like James Bond. So, the theme to the first arc, The Deadly Introductions, is the theme from Misfits. Until I can come up with an original composition for a theme for TrevorCopter, I will have to co-opt songs that someone else used first. Enjoy the strip and the theme. It’s pretty awesome that the London riots are playing over the music.

Strip 9 8/23

Almost back. Caught a lucky break with this one and I should be able to get TrevorCopter back to the regular schedule by next week. Stay tuned, but enjoy Strip 9!

Sorry...

You know what really sucks? Technical difficulties. And improper planning. I just moved and that has led to me being without a scanner and Photoshop (the two key ingredients to the TrevorCopter stew). But, I am working on it and hope to bring TrevorCopter back to a regular schedule once I can figure out my technology shortcomings at this present moment. So, that means a slight hiatus, just at the cusp of the story taking off. Maybe that is a good thing as this is really only killing my own momentum more that the story's. But be aware that once the strip is back, it is back and the reveal of the main conflict (as well as the introduction of the rest of the cast) will be immediately dealt with once we can get these problems worked out. Thanks for understanding, Dave Rick.

Strip 1 8/10

THE DEBUT STRIP OF TREVORCOPTER

The Beginning...

If you are aware of the origins of initial idea of TrevorCopter (as part of KSUN Radio at Sonoma State University), then you are aware that this blog started as a joke. The original TrevorCopter was a recurring bit on KSUN shows Bungles and the Man and The Show. I would call in as the "eye in the sky" and proceed to talk about whatever the hell I wanted to talk about. The Trevor of that TrevorCopter is terrible at his job. The only thing he cares about is his helicopter and social justice (related to helicopters). This blog was from the second episode of TrevorCopter, where I decided to say I have a political action blog. I repeated the false url "TrevorCopter.Blogspot.com" several times over the phone conversation and when I was done, I realized that I should start an actual TrevorCopter.Blogspot.com. Thus, this site was born.

For the past three years, I have been doing comics for the Sonoma State STAR. My other blog, Teddy the Bear (and Other Shenanigans), highlights that work. But when I finished school this past May, I realized that I wanted to keep doing cartoons. I wanted to finally pursue my dream of being a cartoonist. But I felt that my Teddy material wasn't up to snuff (after being told that it wasn't up to snuff by several people) and so, I sought out a new idea. Something fresh and wonderful. That is when the NEW TREVORCOPTER was born.

This strip will be a parody of the old adventure comics that were popular in the 1930s and 40s, long before serialized strips lost their edge and became a flock of Mary Worth clones. It will always aim to be funny, but since it is a parody of serious work, I will be able to toe the line a little bit more than I have tried in other comics. TrevorCopter will be a serious strip at times, but not all the time.

This first story arc, which begins with the first strip, is called The Deadly Introductions. Through the course of this storyline, the main characters of TrevorCopter will emerge. The people who appear in this first arc (for the most part), will be the cast. As a result, it might be a little slow going as these characters are developed, but once we are set, then each arc will hit with helicopter blades spinning!

The following is the Purpose Statement of TrevorCopter. This is what the strip is about:

This is the story of a man; a man so bold, he took a helicopter. From there, he spent his life finding adventure, building up a collection of wonderfully eccentric people he would call friends (or, very rarely, foes). The thrill of adventure and the need to do good continually drive this man into action. And in a world filled with exotic locales, populated by allies, enemies and lovers, all desperate for an example of what is right and true, this man will always be needed.

This is the story of TrevorCopter.

August 10

New comics are always released on Wednesdays. So, I have a goal of doing the same thing. In one week's time, I will premiere the new Pirate Monkey Production: A new comic strip by the name of TrevorCopter (patent pending). Here is a color job on one of the preview pictures from the last post.

Preview

Here are just some sketches I have been working on. Soon, the Copter will be taking flight. Once I have finished up some of my other work, I will be able to spell out what I teased back in June.

Good news, true believers. TrevorCopter will be launching something BIG by summers end. So stay tuned!
